Jan 30, 2014 - Anyway, I really feel like I made a lot of progress because of the Kanji learning. Again, it's still not in Japanese, but I'll be getting volume 2 of RTK soon, which I think does just that. Actually writing down the kanji with a pen and paper was really helpful for learning it (and remembering the stroke order), and this way I had a notebook that I easily just toss in my bag and take with me on a bus or to Starbucks. For example, there I though about things like remembering "the kanji for power" or "the kanji for person", but I don't want to link it to anything in the English language, as I'm trying to make my Japanese knowledge as independent as possible. Kanjis are very difficult to remember, this book gives you hints in pictures how the remember the kanjis. The most common method of teaching Kanji relies on rote-memorization – the same method used by the majority of Japanese children.
